With the popularity of virtual reality devices, such as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, it’s no surprise that UAT Game Studios students are developing games for both platforms in the UAT Game Studio. Development team Tiny Vision Entertainment created their newest VR game called Bust’a Worm for the HTC Vive in a 48-hour Game Jam held at UAT last year. Bust’a Worm is a Virtual Reality game played on the HTC Vive where the player can use voice commands to change up their weapon involving spikes, fire, or ice at intimidating alien worms on the attack. UAT Game Studios is hosting a summer Game Jam at UAT on July 7-9, to power up the level of energy and productivity around campus. Game Jams unfold quickly in just 48-hours, giving developers a deadline of completion. UAT Professor Ben Reichert is a huge advocate for Game Jams and students starting their own indie game studio. The Phoenix Global Game Jam returned to UAT for the second consecutive year in January, bringing game developers from all over the Valley to our campus. UAT Game Studios students came out in full force forming small teams and collaborating their skills to make a playable game in just 48 hours. UAT Game Studios Professor Matt Marquit assigned Game Art and Animation student Terrence Miller, the awesome task of hosting a game jam. As an artist, Terrence made it his own with the secret theme of “trigger words and safe spaces” to allow students to unleash their creativity and develop some pretty interesting indie games.
