World of Martz is a multiplayer game that combines different genres to create intense combat with strategy and quick decision making skills. The player must also strategize ways to defeat random level events and a vast level to plan where you stalk your enemy in which you can succeed by deception teamwork or free for all. With the popularity of virtual reality devices, such as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, it’s no surprise that UAT Game Studios students are developing games for both platforms in the UAT Game Studio. Development team Tiny Vision Entertainment created their newest VR game called Bust’a Worm for the HTC Vive in a 48-hour Game Jam held at UAT last year. The summer semester is winding down, but many UAT Game Studios development teams are still hard at work trying to complete as much work on their games as possible before the Greenlight Celebration at the Game On Expo. Each semester, student game developers pitch a game concept to UAT Game Studios Professors hoping to be greenlit into production for the semester. UAT’s Tech-Infused Campus Welcomes Young Programmers for a 24-Hour Development Competition, Two Years Running For the second consecutive year, University of Advancing Technology (UAT) co-sponsors and hosts CodeDay Phoenix, the largest 24-hour youth coding challenge in the state, on UAT’s Tempe technology-infused campus. The event kicks off on Saturday, February 18, at noon, with coders competing continuously for 24 hours and closes with an awards ceremony led by a panel of judges at noon on Sunday, February 19, 2017. Congratulations to UAT Game Studios development team who took first place in the Phoenix Global Game Jam held at UAT on January 20-22. A week from now, the devs will leave for GDC Play in San Fransisco, California to show off their new game, “Whiskered Away,” as the Game Jam’s grand prize sponsored by Clique API. “Whiskered Away” takes place on a beach with cute, colorful cats who are collecting shiny coins that belong to Poseidon.
