Intel Game Camp

Intel Game Camp

Intel Game Camp is currently going on now!

If you are interested in video game design or making mobile games, stop by Room 208 on the UAT campus to learn from three Intel gaming professionals. Game Jam runs from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. until Friday, May 22.

Intel engineers Brad Hill and Rakshith Krishnappa, along with Chris Moody and other mentors, are excited to show you great techniques for video game design, Javascript, prototyping, web games, and mobile with XDK.

Game Jams or Game Camps are the perfect place for students to brainstorm ideas for creating a new game or to take an existing idea and develop it into a game or demo.

“If you already have an idea we can help you get started, if you don’t have an idea we can start there. We can help you at any stage of the game design process – starting with any core concept of characters, mechanic, story, genre, or player experience,” said Hill.

Throughout the day, students can also learn great insight about game development from talks and videos like Extra Credits, a gaming YouTube channel.

Don’t forget to make it mobile! Design with mobile in mind, make sure your games are versatile and convert it into a mobile game. “We can take any web game and add a few lines of code in the XDK and the game can be put on any mobile device,” said Hill.

Students can walk away with a lot of great tips, advice and a new game demo just from spending a few hours in the Intel Game Camp!

That’s not all! Games created this week at the Intel Game Camp will be entered at the Arizona Video Game Showcase at Phoenix Comicon and judged for awards by Game CoLab.

There will also be a Comicon Game Jam held on May 28-29, at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix Hotel across from the Phoenix Convention Center. Awards will be given out on May 31. Make sure to vote on the game you think is the most fun to play and which game needs to be made!

Come network and meet these Intel professionals:

Brad Hill – Engineering Director of Student / Indie Hackathons (Game Jams)
Chris Moody – Veteran Hackathon Mentor
