Experience Leadership Program

Experience Leadership Program

Higher Education is all about the EXPERIENCE!

Are you kind, helpful, outgoing and eager to share your experience with new students? Then you have what it takes to be an EXL Leader!

Experience Leadership Program (EXL)
Being a part of the Experience Leadership Program as an Experience(EXL) Leader means that you are one of the first contacts first year incoming students meet when they arrive on campus. Now that you’ve been an active student at UAT for at least one semester, we are thrilled that you are considering the opportunity to be an EXL Leader yourself.

What will you gain?

  • Develop communication, facilitation, mentorship and leadership skills that employers are actively looking for in graduates
  • Meet many of our new & prospective students
  • Leadership oriented involvement looks awesome on a resume

You’ll have an opportunity to shape new students’ experience from day one. You will take part in events that teach and train you on what it takes to be a stronger leader and build up skills essential to success beyond graduation. Once you complete a full year successfully as an EXL Leader, you will receive a letter of recommendation from the UAT Provost, Dr. David Bolman.

EXL Leaders represent all academic majors from all areas of the country and they share one important attribute: they are all passionate about UAT and want to share that with new students as they transition to the campus community.
Who better to share insights about life at UAT than you?

EXL Leader qualifications:

  • Serve as a resource for new students and their families
  • Be in good social and academic standing at UAT (Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.75)
  • Possess effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Remain positive, proactive & professional as you are a representative of UAT
  • Enjoy interacting with a broad range of people (students, parents, and the UAT staff and faculty)
  • Be a positive role model and help create an environment that fosters love of learning, ethical and caring behavior, and respect for differences.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work closely with UAT faculty & staff
  • Participate in The UAT Experience by hosting a small group overnight for each event. When space allows, accommodations for overnight guests will be arranged by Founders Hall in empty rooms. If it is necessary for overnight prospects to be hosted in your room, you will be notified ahead of time.
  • You do NOT have to live on campus in Founders to participate!
  • Attend August training (Date TBD) and monthly leadership seminars.
  • Be available to work all hours during CONNECT & The UAT Experience dates.
