Winners of UAT Programming Jam won raspberry pis

UAT held a Raspberry Pi contest for all students. Each student presented their project and gave a demonstration of them. The winners were surprised with not only Raspberry Pi prizes but raspberry pies themselves. The projects were all innovative and very different. First prize won for a network diagnostic application. Second prize won for a robot adaptation for a robot to interface with a human Third prize won a music playlist program that would also add music from that genre by a local artist who just happened to be the programmer of this project. Students Innovate Foot Mount for HTC Vive

VR begins to evolve at UAT! UAT students from all different majors put their heads together to create a new adaption for the HTC Vive handheld controller. Currently the HTC Vive VR headset allows the player to use motion-tracked, hand controllers to interact in fully immersive environments. The controllers offer the ability for the user to pick up objects, communicate and explore different levels within the game. The Southern Colorado Girls STEM group lead by Professor Jill Coddington, UAT Program Champion in Advancing Computer Science and Robotics, spent the weekend at UAT’s Tempe campus for a Future You University event during June 10-13, to offer these students a taste of the technology-infused innovation that surrounds our students each and every day.¬† These 17 middle school students won a STEM competition and their prize was a technology-filled experience at UAT.
