Check out the complete w00tstock 7.0 playlist but be warned! These geeks have foul mouths and this…

Jordan Wippell: Music Videos, Short Films and Plans For the Future

Jordan Wippell is a Digital Video student at UAT who has kept himself quite busy submitting his work to film festivals and video contests. He is also known to ask directors if he can offer an extra hand behind the scenes to get tips from a professionals point of view. As a filmmaker, you are grateful for each opportunity to produce a film, but most filmmakers have few opportunities to work with one of their favorite bands, but now 21-year-old Jordan can say he has. He heard of a video contest for They Might Be Giants through the band’s Facebook…

New Movie Tuesday: BLOOD OATH

This week’s New Movie Tuesday is action-packed! Pulling together elements of film noir and martial arts movies, UATDV alum Jace Oppie and Professor Paul DeNigris collaborated on “Blood Oath” during the summer of 2014. New Movie Tuesday: BUDDY SYSTEM

The Digital Video Program kicks off a new feature this month called “New Movie Tuesday!” Every Tuesday, a “new” movie hits our YouTube channel – we say “new” because these movies typically have been on the film festival circuit for about a year before finally being released publicly on the web. This week’s film is no exception! “Buddy System” is a 6-minute zombie short very much inspired by The Walking Dead. Originally written by Professor Paul DeNigris for the students to produce as part of the Summer 2013 IFP 48-Hour Film Challenge, the film was resurrected after the 48-hour version failed to…

Remembering Ralph Baer, Father of Video Games

Ralph Baer

Photo from NPR. Technology and technology related fields move fast. Things change, hardware gets faster, software gets updated, engines get new releases, and games gain the potential to continue to grow because of it. Gaming is a field defined by what is next, potential, and where things are going. The video game industry is comparatively new on the entertainment scene (although many would argue “gaming” has been around since the dawn of man) and being new there have not been a lot of moments where we have lost industry icons. This weekend the game industry lost one of these icons and I believe…

Digital Forensic Students Learn Video Forensics

Digital Forensics

This semester the Digital Forensic students are learning video forensics. Keith Swanson, a Forensic Examiner for the Rocky Mountain Information Network, has been sharing his vast wealth of knowledge on video forensics with our students. The class is a perfect fit for our University because we have many other degrees that produce high quality video. Audio and video forensics provide a “real-time ” account of a crime. Video and audio evidence is becoming one of the most prevalent forms of forensic evidence used in both civil and criminal cases. Just look how quickly cell phone video gets posted to the Internet. As the demand for…
