UAT’s Tech-Infused Campus Welcomes Young Programmers for a 24-Hour Development Competition, Two Years Running For the second consecutive year, University of Advancing Technology (UAT) co-sponsors and hosts CodeDay Phoenix, the largest 24-hour youth coding challenge in the state, on UAT’s Tempe technology-infused campus. Young game developers camped out at University of Advancing Technology for 48 hours to participate in the Phoenix Global Game Jam 2016 from Jan. 29-31. Yes, we may have seen some jammers sleeping, some stretching, and consuming an abundance of snacks and caffeine, but it was amazing to see UAT students and alumni, students from other colleges and even a few high schools students come out to code like crazy and learn what it takes to make a functioning game in such a short time constraint. The first annual Great Arizona Code Challenge took place at Infusionsoft Headquarters the weekend of July 24-25, offering 38 high school students the opportunity to attend coding seminars taught by UAT Professors, where they could ask questions and discuss their ideas. The Code Challenge started off with an ice breaker in order for the programmers to get acquainted and to inspire collaboration within the group.
