When Hollywood actor Andy McDermott asks UAT for help filming the fan film adaption of author Vince Flynn’s hero Mitch Rapp, of course Digital Video Program Champion Paul DeNigris eagerly agreed, putting his film crew of UAT Digital Video students to work. The independently produced short film “Mitch Rapp: Off Book,” is the first large-scale action film that UAT has shot to date. Digital Video Students Win Big at Spring Inter-College 48 Hour Film Challenge




Two teams of UAT Digital Video Students competed against five teams of students from Grand Canyon University in the Spring 2017 Inter-College 48 Hour Film Challenge. This latest installment of the epic crosstown rivalry that has erupted every Fall and Spring since 2011 was a winner for the UATDV family as one of the 2 teams brought home awards for Best Technical and Best Film. Future You University Returns to UAT

Future You University




Future You University (Future You U) is an event designed to introduce University life experiences to female middle school STEM students.   To be chosen to participate, these girls had to be active in a STEM group, be recommended by their STEM Program champion and principal, desire a STEM related career, and write an essay on why they should be considered. The event takes place over a long weekend at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe. Award-Winning Film “Limelight” Now on YouTube!




Last summer a team of UAT Digital Video students lead by Killian Davies competed in the IFP Phoenix “Beat the Clock” 48 Hour Film Challenge and won Best Picture for their effort titled “Limelight.” As in every 48-hour challenge, there were some parameters given by IFP to ensure that the films were actually completed in the allotted time, and not filmed beforehand. Programming Students Adopt a Robotic Dog

Recently a few Robotics and Embedded Systems students have adopted a dog! Well, actually, Kenneth Vorseth and Andrew Weisenberger have been working in the Robotics Lab to program and bring a robotic dog to life. If the robot were a real dog it would be considered to be highly trained in that this robot is autonomous, designed for the Autonomous Object Tracking Vehicles class at UAT.
